Carla creates a masterpiece with all the leftover Halloween candy!
SALTY & SWEET CANDY CORN TREATS
12 chewy caramels
4 tablespoons butter
5 cups mini marshmallows
1/2 teaspoon Kosher salt
1 1/2 cups crispy cereal
1/2 cup candy corn
1/2 cup salted roasted peanuts
1/2 cup pretzels (broken into 1/2-inch pieces)
1/2 cup bittersweet chocolate (melted)
flaky sea salt (to garnish)
cooking spray (to grease)
Line one baking sheet with wax paper. Place the caramels 2-inches apart on the wax paper.
Heat a large pot over medium heat and add butter. Allow to melt and add marshmallows and salt. Stir until the marshmallows melt and become smooth. Remove from the heat and add the cereal, candy corn, peanuts and pretzels and stir quickly to coat completely.
Grease hands and large spoons with butter or cooking spray. Scoop 1/4 cup of cereal marshmallow mixture on top of the caramels and use hands to shape into mounds, allowing the piece of caramel to be a surprise inside. Flatten mounds slightly. Repeat and allow the cereal treats to set.
Once set, drizzle with melted chocolate, sprinkle with flaky sea salt and serve.
Tip: Add your favorite leftover candy to this treat! Be sure to work quickly with greased hands or spoons before the marshmallow sets.
